Looking for a protein smoothie without the nasties those protein powders sold in the big black containers from so called health marts? Well here is a good base for you to start with a wholefoods smoothie, and I really do think that once you try these you won't go back! It will help if you have a really good blender or coffee grinder to make the nuts and seeds into a nice fine powder.
2 T sunflower seeds 2 T pumpkin seeds Handful of almonds (or any nuts) 1 banana ½ avocado Handful of spinach (if no thyroid problems) 2 T cacao powder if choc flavour wanted Handful frozen berries Spoonful of yoghurt A little ice (if your food processor can handle it) Grind seeds in grinder. Transfer to container (I find a protein shaker is perfect if using a mixstick) or into food processor. Add all other ingredients and cover with cold water/almond milk. Blend until smooth and serve.
